Deck Permit Drawings
A new deck or porch can transform your outdoor space — but before you build, you’ll need permit-ready drawings. At The Building Permit Guy, we prepare BCIN-certified deck and porch plans with all the details municipalities expect: footings, framing, guards, and stairs. Clear, accurate, and code-compliant — so your project moves forward without delays.

FAQ's
Do I need a permit for a deck?
Yes, if the deck is more than 24 inches (600 mm) above grade, or if it’s attached to the house. Smaller decks may not require a permit, but zoning bylaws (setbacks, lot coverage) still apply.
What about covered porches?
Covered porches always require a building permit, since they’re considered part of the dwelling.
Do stairs and railings need to be shown?
Yes. We include all guard, handrail, and stair details required by the Ontario Building Code.
Can you help if I already built my deck without a permit?
Yes. We can prepare as-built drawings to support a retroactive permit application.
